Private messaging spam

VisaRus has been getting hit by a lot of spammers lately. They're signing up and spamming penpal adverts, pm links in the forums, everything they can get their hands on.

I've had more complaints this week than I usually get in two months.

So, since work on the spam filter isn't at a stage where it can be put into action, I've had to introduce authorisation for new users to be able to send private messages.

This, however, puts people off using the site. So you can be sure that work on the spam filter will be geared up just as soon as I get back from Hanover.
