Pay-Per-Download site up and running!

I think it's now safe to say that my pay-per-download site is finally up and running. There are still some 'tweaks' to be done, like making the markup and CSS standards-compliant, as well as some imporvements to the admin side and the overall design, but these are minor matters and otherwise all is going to plan.

Private messaging spam

VisaRus has been getting hit by a lot of spammers lately. They're signing up and spamming penpal adverts, pm links in the forums, everything they can get their hands on. I've had more complaints this week than I usually get in two months.

Keeping sites spam-free

A few ideas came to me a few days ago, when I was populating a list of stop words for the expete.com forum. If a user makes a post with any of these words, the system automatically alerts the moderator of the forum the post was submitted to, or sends an alert to the administrator if the forum does not have a moderator assigned.

Pay-to-Download site for InterLingua

I'm looking forward to launching InterLingua Publications, which will be my take on a pay-per-download site for e-books, program scripts and other electronic goods. The system works with the database-driven catalogue & shopping cart I originally used for my sister's site, mullfineproduce.co.uk (currently undergoing major reconstruction).
